Bush Disciplines Supporters
WHY PRESIDENT BUSH IS USING APPOINTEE'S TO DISTANCE HIMSELF FROM EMBARRASSING "CHRISTIANS"

The Bush administration has finally displayed embarrassment over the hate-filled rhetoric spewing from the so-called Evangelical Christian Right (ECR).  ECR members are frequently called "Christian-Zionists" as Ariel Sharon proudly refers to them, or "Judeo-Christians", or "Dispensationalists" as they sometimes call themselves.  Whatever their label, the ECR has shocked many mainstream churchgoers with their anti-Muslim hate-rhetoric containing virulently racist overtones.  The bigotry has become all too obvious, and is resulting in growing revulsion even among those misguided, non-ECR Christians who have otherwise supported the Administration.  The President has been forced to distance himself from those who constitute his most feverish support base for war with Iraq.  The Administration fanned the fire, but now is forced to cool it just a bit.

Here is how the London Guardian's New York correspondent, Oliver Burkeman, sees it in his November 15th story:

"Colin Powell, the US Secretary of State, condemned America's Christian Right yesterday for      propagating hatred against Muslims, in what appeared to be a coordinated White House campaign to confront anti-Islamic rhetoric from a constituency that includes some of the Bush administration's staunchest supporters.
"Days after the televangelist Pat Robertson said on his Christian Broadcasting Network that 'what the Muslims want to do to the Jews is worse than the Holocaust', Mr. Powell told a gathering in
Washington: 'This kind of hatred must be rejected.'
"The escalation in anti-Muslim comments from conservative Christians includes a recent claim by Jerry Falwell, the country's leading right-wing Baptist, that the prophet Mohammed was 'a terrorist'.
"Veteran evangelist Jimmy Swaggart followed that this week by calling Mohammed a 'sex deviant' and a pervert and demanding that Muslim students in the
US be expelled.  'We ought to tell every other Muslim living in this nation that if you say one word, you're gone,' he said."   -end Guardian quote.

An anti-Islamic theme has been promoted from the White House, as most fair minded observers would admit.  It is a theme repeated everywhere by the media, which has galvanized the ECR to the point that they believe their aberrant theology is not only “American” but moral.  Bush himself has said words to the effect that we are not at war with Muslims, who are "nice people", but that the war is with "radical Islam."  To my knowledge the President has not offered a definition of "radical", though we can infer that it is any branch of Islam that is opposed to Mr. Bush's foreign policy.  He has repeatedly stated that those who are not with his policies are against America---a statement that is itself un-American, in a country that prides itself on its freedom of speech and open exchange of differing views.  It is reasonable to conclude that most of the millions of Muslims in America would oppose a policy of bombing people in the Mideast, but this does not make them less American.

Readers are implored not to believe for a minute that the President has changed any policy in his push for continuous wars--"serial wars," as we prefer to call them.  The impossible restrictions placed on the UN Arms Inspectors assure that they will be forced to report every minute finding, which are to be judged from afar in Washington.  In addition, US military operations, which have continued since the war ended on paper, are being conducted at an accelerated pace all over Northern and Southern Iraq, which will eventually invite an incident.  The result will be finding that Iraq is in violation of the U.N. resolution regardless of what is found or not found.  Do not think for a moment that our President and his very expert Warmaker advisors, including Colin Powell, have seen the light and are now turning toward the pursuit of peace.

There are at least two reasons why President Bush may want to appear to be separating himself from the ECR.  First, George Walker Bush does not want to look like an absolute Islamic hate monger on the very eve of the bombing of Baghdad by being too closely associated with Christian racists, even if they are among his most stout supporters.  He appears to wants to curb the excessive rhetoric of the ECR with a mild rebuke, but without dampening their resolve for war.

Second, the Christian Zionists are painting the Iraq "war" as another pro-Israel war operation.  To the Christian Zionist, Iraq is no more or less than another enemy of Israel, and the war on Iraq is only an extension of the war against the Palestinians.  They are right, there is much logic to the view that Israel will end up with Iraq's oil fields, but the Administration does not want us to think about this.  Its media spin is to distance Iraq from Palestine in every possible way.  If he could, President Bush would move Iraq to a separate continent so it would not be noticeable that we are simply beating up on another of Israel’s enemies.

EDITOR ASKED

Who is rally responsible for the craze of anti-Islamic fever?  The fires of anti-Islam have been fanned and officially blessed by the Administration and the American press, but the President's best friends appear to have ignited a forest fire of hatred that makes anything the Nazi regime said about Jews appear mild.  Even more violently anti-Islamic statements than those quoted by the Guardian are shamelessly circulating in Christian circles.  One example of these was reported to us at a recent, recorded luncheon presentation by one Dr. Robert Morey, given before a conservative, largely ECR, California audience.

Dr. (Reverend) Morey is reliably reported to have called for the total destruction of Mecca, Medina, and the Dome of the Rock Mosque in Jerusalem, as the only solution to the "Muslim Problem."  Dr. Morey stopped just short of calling for the destruction of all mosques, and it is reported that he did not specify how this massive demolition was to be carried out or by whom.  Presumably so large a task would require the ultimate sacrifice of many of America's sons and daughters.

As outrageous as Morey’s call for a blood purge may sound in the Land of the Free, he is said to have received a favorable response from the audience.  Morey has written a number of books condemning Palestinians and Muslims in general.  Your Editor has long wondered if Morey may be an outright Israeli functionary; he is certainly not a Christ follower by Jesus' definition.  It is this kind of unbridled demonstration of hate that apparently has caused the Administration to see the need to place a little distance between itself and the ECR.

Sad to say, Dr. Morey is separated from the starched, erudite, conservative, Judeo-Christian establishment only by the level of the rhetoric, and not by its substance.  As we have previously reported, the Southern Baptist Convention, the largest of the ECR, has publicly called for what amounts to Palestinian blood by pronouncing that the Palestinians must leave Gaza and the West Bank.(2)

The ECR leaders, including Falwell, Robertson, and the Graham family, are all Baptist by history.  Dr. Richard Land is a powerful spokesman for the Southern Baptist Convention, and he does not even have to know where Iraq is on the map to hate Iraqis.  This is because Israel is still formally at war with Iraq, and Ariel Sharon reminds Christians of this every day by his flaming rhetoric about expected missile attacks from Iraq and his plans for retaliation.  A war on Iraq is viewed by the ECR as a war for Israel.  Yet the roots of Islam-hatred did not come from the Administration: Mr. Bush has only exploited the preconditioning that already exists within Christian Zionism.  The source of what can only be described as unchristian race hatred is discussed in detail in several papers authored by your editor, some of which are reviewed below.

THE FIRE IS ABOUT TO BE EXTINGUISHED

President Bush cannot cope with the growing world disgust over Israel's open murder of Palestinian children, while at the same time deal with what is viewed by the rest of the world as a giant oil-theft raid on Iraq.  There is just too much anti-American sentiment growing worldwide.  The dollar is again sinking in the international currency markets, another hushed evidence of the growing hatred for US policy.  Bush Warmaker advisors (many of whom are openly Zionist) now need to play down the race war angle.   George Walker Bush is not suddenly soft on Muslims; there is no plan to treat anyone fairly; Colin Powell is not a brown-faced, good guy, TV hero coming to the defense of another abused minority, and the war plan has not diminished.  The race crusade is still flying on afterburner!

Leaders of the respectable ECR, like Mr. Land and other Southern Baptists, can be expected to issue phony mushy statements about loving Muslims, while painting them simultaneously as benighted pagans damned to Hell.  But only the tone of the rhetoric will change, because Israel worship is a part of the neo-theology of the Zionist Christians, and will not go away so easily.

Please note, when we refer to ECR members who practice racism as an integral aspect of worshiping Zionist Israel, we are speaking of someone who is not genuinely “evangelical,” nor are they Christ-followers though they call themselves "Christians," nor are they are "right" in any way.  They have become nothing more than enablers for every war that can be conceived in the minds of grasping politicians, so long as the target is someone that they believe hates Israel or is hated by Israel.  This means the ECR has come to discount the humanity of the Palestinians, Iraqis, Sudanese, Bosnians, Pakistanis, Chechens, and some of their fellow Americans who are Muslims.  This hatred is the great apostasy of Christianity today.  The ECR inexplicably ignores the Christian population within each country that is being bombed, and this population is particularly large in Iraq

This apostasy, which author Gordon Ginn calls the "Final Apostasy," is far more dangerous to humanity than any perversion scandal imaginable in the Catholic Church.  It is worse than the "Crusades," because it threatens many times more lives, and with even less justification.  It is about to be exposed by its own terrible excesses.

Believers are now challenging the false teachings of their local churches.  We ask you to do the same and do it quickly.  Forget the politicians: why hold a prayer march in front of the Whitehouse or the Congress who are already bought and paid for?    Instead, pray for peace in front if Dr. Richard Land's home church.  This is your responsibility as a Christian.  To learn what you can do in two hours a week, learn about Project Strait Gate ( www.whtt.org/straitgate ), a movement to restore Christianity.
