Stepping Across the Line

The United Nations' Flag Could Be a Symbol of Doom to Americans

America's First War of Aggression

Stepping Across The Line

by Douglas G. Towne, Publisher of Common Sense News

President Clinton has finally shown his hand. In ordering the cruise missile attacks against Iraq, the President used military power without following proper procedure. He has used the deadly force of the United States Military against another nation without notifying the Congressional leadership. In fact he notified the President of France before he told the Congress of his actions, according to widely circulated press reports.

The War Powers Act clearly states that the President is supposed to consult with and notify the Congressional leadership prior to any military action. He did not do this. In fact Trent Lott, the Senate Majority Leader, was not notified until 40 minutes after the President gave his national press conference. In addition, the War Powers Act also requires the President to file a report on the actions taken within 48 hours of the military involvement. The report was not filed on time. It was filed about 12 hours late according to Trent Lott's office.

This is not a partisan political issue. What is at stake here is a President using his military power illegally. He has thumbed his nose at the Congress and the people as if to say, "I will do as I please. You really don't matter."

With this misuse of the armed forces, Mr. Clinton has stepped across the line that divides the President of a Republic from being a dictator. This cannot be allowed to stand. The reaction of our gulf war allies has shown that most overseas see his actions as purely political. Perhaps this is so, but whether politically motivated or not the President has misjudged the American people's willingness to allow him to act as a dictator. Given all the rumors flying about and the legal troubles facing the President, we must wonder whether the missiles he fired were really aimed at Iraq or the rest of us including the Congress.

This is an impeachable offense and all Americans must call, write, fax or do whatever else they can to get the Congress to commence impeachment proceedings against Mr. Clinton. This misuse of power cannot be allowed to pass. We must remember that we live under a justice system that operates on precedent. This must not be allowed to become legal precedent. If we do not stop him now, who will he use the cruise missiles against next time?

Take action today to defend the Republic by calling your Congressional Representative toll free 800-962-3524. Call or fax to anyone else you can think of. This may well be the key to removing Mr. Clinton from office.

The United Nations' Flag could be a Symbol of Doom to Americans

by Bill Wrangle

Youths have always joined in groups. Pranks were part of the fun but rarely violence. Siblings had an older brother or sister to turn to for advice. Something is happening that has never been a permanent part of the American social structure. That something is that large numbers of our brightest and best youth, those with leadership qualities, those with self confident moderating voices, the best educated of the neighborhood children, those with a conscience, those without police records are missing.

What happened to them? Store front offices were set up in each neighborhood. Information was gathered to identify those without criminal tendencies, the brightest and best. They were encouraged to join up, the poorer the neighborhood the more incentive to join. Those that enlisted found themselves in camps. In these camps they were taught to defend our country. Where did they go? They were sent by the United Nations to neighborhoods in foreign countries to protect the citizens there. To make sure they are safe.

The United States usually reduced its military manpower significantly after each war. Has United Nations' requirements above that peacetime complement been responsible for a socially destructive force within our nation? It has taken many years to manifest itself and perhaps was totally unanticipated.

For the last 45 years Globalists and Interventionists* have been taking an inordinate number of our most ethical, best and brightest children from each family and neighborhood, thereby lowering the ethical and moral standards on every street corner in our country. No country can sustain such deprivation, both in number and length of time without a gradual descent into youthful anarchy.

Churches, Governments, and Community Groups had to establish "BIG BROTHER" programs to give guidance and counseling: To do what those sent to foreign countries would have done as a matter of course. From the UN Police Action of the Korean War to the present, more than a hundred thousand of our brightest and best American youth have died on foreign shores. In the interim, neighborhoods in the United States have gotten progressively more dangerous. It should be noted that this occurred under the shadow of the UN Flag.

We can no longer afford the Globalist and Interventionist* use of our children which takes money from the falling wages of all working Americans, threatens every senior citizen and poor child with the trash heap, reduces Medicare and Medicaid, puts our newborn in debt, and contributes to the destruction of the social structure of the United States.

The founding Fathers warned us about foreign entanglements. The constitution makes it lawful to protect us from invasion "to provide and maintain a Navy," but prohibits funding a standing army for more than two years.

"As long as both parties are GLOBALIST and INTERVENTIONIST, a third party will develop." Presidential Candidate Pat Buchanan, April 20, 1996.

America's First War of Aggression

(Excerpted from a letter written on December 26,1990, and circulated on the eve of Desert Storm)

by Charles E. Carlson

"Treason doth never prosper, what's the reason? For if it prosper, none dare call it treason." -- Sir John Harrington 1561 - 1612

Please permit me to speak boldly to a fellow believer, We are in danger from a hidden enemy within. Our country's leaders are openly attempting to sell, or bully our people into war. This will be a war that can only bring sadness and death to many, some our own sons and even daughters.

If President Bush, Secretary of State Baker and staff are unable to convince the American people that war is good for us, they plan to taunt and agitate the other side into an "unprovoked attack." A first strike will force the American people to accept a war, a war that has no logic from our point of view and which no one wants, except our leaders. This disaster will happen unless the grass roots movement from the American people is sufficiently powerful to stop our leaders. This is why I am writing to you. It will be your war to fight and pay for. Will you help to stop it?

To provoke an attack Mr. Bush has selected the age old tactic of the bully, humiliation and insult, to cause the other guy to start the fight. Most recently the president has made it known he did not want the hostages released, and in fact stated he "gave no credit whatsoever to Hussein for releasing the hostages."

Bush has repeatedly referred to the Arab leader as a "dog". I am told by a business-man who has spent much time doing business in Saudi Arabia that to call an Arab a dog is a mortal insult, yet Bush repetitiously refers to Hussein as a "mad dog", a deliberate insult before Hussein's people, requiring a fight to the death, in the Arab Culture.

Deliberate acts of provocation are not new in our history. FDR used similar tactics to mortify the imperial rulers of Japan in 1939, as is well documented in Charles Callan Tansill's Back Door to War, in which he carefully documented the use of ethnic insult to the character of Japanese dignitaries, virtually forcing them to attack. The now widely accepted theory that these acts were intended to provoke attack is supported by the fact that President Roosevelt and his aides not only knew in advance of the impending attack, but arranged for the Pacific fleet to be a convenient target for the expected attack, all of which was well documented in Admiral Theobald's book, The Final Secret of Pearl Harbor, and other credible sources.

Mr. Roosevelt, like Mr. Bush, made no secret of his desire to enter war, but it required no less than an attack in the Pacific to provoke the war weary and depression weary American people into the war FDR had secretly promised to his future ally, Joseph Stalin. Note that FDR and his staff manipulated a "Back Door to War", as Professor Tansill put it, by first, manufacturing an enemy where none exists, second, provoking an attack, and third, arranging for a convenient target for the expected first strike. This is the pattern being replayed by George Bush in front of our eyes.

Now we see the specter of Mr. Gorbachev, leader of the most bloody handed regime in all of recorded history, being begged to become an ally with our Marines in Saudi Arabia. Consider the fact that Russia armed Iraq with the weapons used today. I am sure you know from the news that the USSR has armed Iraq all the way back to the days of the Shah of Iran. But do you remember that only two years ago George Bush sided with and gave our money and arms to Iraq's Hussein against the Ayatollah of Iran? Mr. Bush has been inconsistent about who he supports in the east, but his actions have been absolutely and perfectly consistent in promoting instability in the Arab East by jumping from side to side and providing arms to all sides, including Israel.

While President Bush agitates for war, the institutional press is openly fostering the hate campaign directed at Moslems, another example of brainwashing us with the idea that life is cheap and that government should not be questioned when it uses human lives as chess pawns. Ignored by the press are the lives of those on the other side. We are supposed to think we are in

Desert Shield to punish dictator Hussein, but no one mentions that it will not be he who suffers from sanctions and war, but the widows and orphans of thousands who will be left mutilated and destitute, just as the Afghanis' families have been destroyed by the Russian invasion. Mr. Bush is unashamedly selling war, but never does he discuss the consequences of war, death.

Christians are also being taken in by the war scheme based on the erroneous idea that believers are yoked to the modern Zionist nation of Israel and, the theory goes, since all Moslems are considered enemies of Israel, anything we (or the Israelis) do to Moslems, no matter how cruel or inhuman, is not only OK, but in some inexplicable way, must be God's will. I recently heard a Sunday school leader say, " . . . didn't God use the Israelites to wipe out entire populations in the Old Testament, maybe he is using us to rid the world of Arabs". Christians are also being subtly programmed to think of the Moslems as sub-human, just as we are supposed to think of the unborn as non-babies. I will not be surprised if George Bush, who is prepared for and is demanding the pagan slaughter of thousands, will soon be telling us we must join in a Holy War against the Moslem people.

What then are Mr. Bush's motives for demanding war? We are left to guess at his motives and to rationalize the assumptions that our leaders share our concerns about human life, that they know what is good for us and are acting accordingly. Not so. President Bush is carrying out someone else's agenda. This can be plainly seen in his effort to hand over military authority to United Nations. Let us examine the purposes of the UN.

What is the UN, who runs it and
